Does anybody know of a quality shop in Arizona (preferably Tucson) that does good leather work on NSX seats?? Mine need a little help.

Congrats on your new NSX! There aren't too many NSX's down here in Tucson that I know of, but it's good to see that the number is growing quickly in the last couple of months. We'll all have to get organized and meet up at some point.

Unfortunately I don't know of any good upholstery shops here in Tucson but I'll keep my ears open if I hear of one.

Tucson NSX's

Thanks. I'm out on the East Side and loving the new car. Can't believe how much attention this thing gets. Kinda makes me nervous. The NSX is extremely clean but needs a few things. Drivers side window regulator is popping (Acura dealer already replaced once.) The automatic antenna makes a heck of a racket when it's finished either going up or down. The driver's seat needs new leather (looks like I missed out on some good seats from a '97 NSX here in town) and I need a set of stock wheels and tires while I pick out my new wheels (I need 17X8 and 18X10 and there aren't too many options out there unless I wan't to wait 40-60 days while they are built). We'll have to get together sometime and check out the rides.

Hey Chris@sos

Is Science of Speed located in Scottsdale? How can I reach Verdone's? One other quick question....Do you know where I can find a Gewalt Type M wheel 18x10 Silver or do you know of a shop that can repair my wheel? Inner lip is hammered. I talked to Nuwheel here in Tucson but they wouldn't touch it.

upholsterer and 97 seats

Guess who got the 97 seats (actually the entire interior)?:p At least I can help you on the upholstering--I saw other discussions about interiors and found that The Top Shop here in Phx is very experienced at not only replacing leather sections but redying to match etc. I had called them to see what the cost would be--they indicate the average is about 500 per seat. They charge about 138 per panel #602-277-6949 1545 E. Indian School Rd. Phx..

I had considered getting a single black driver's seat and wanted to check out cost. Ended up getting the tan interior in Tucson--avoided mailing also and the seats were in good condition...

I DO NOT reccommend Top Shop.
I was there 3 weeks ago letting them know I would be taking off two days in order to come up and have Mark B. upgrade the tranny (4.23, short gears, light flywheel, Centerforce clutch 90k service, blah blah blah) and that I would have the seats available for 2 days in order to get a few panels replaced and the seats dyed. I called earlier this week to verify things were straight. But yesterday afternoon I got a call. He wanted to know what I wanted done with the seats!!!! I couldn't believe it. I went over and pointed this out and he said he did not have enough time to do it. I was not happy. Well I picked up the seat, said my goodbyes and headed back to BAS. I explained the dilemma and 5 minutes later Jane had me lined up to get the work done at Verdone's. They said they would have it ready for me and would stitch the seats with the original stitching which Top Shop had used a different non NSX stitch and match the panels when they were done so that they don't stand out as they do now. And get this; they are quoted me half of what Top Shop did for the job they could not do as they said they could. I will be picking the seat up today and let you know how it looks. Oh and by the way, it's not $138 a panel at TS it's $185.
ps. It's about time for a Tucson NSX get together. Let's do it!

I was passing on info seen in another discussion and what I was told when I called Top Shop. It seems your complaint is not about the quality of the work but the fact they could not get to it. As you never actually had the work done it's likely hard to say what they would have charged. At any rate, one can compare pricing etc now with Verdonne's...I am picking up my car today at Basch Acura and will ask what his experience has been with both shops in the past. I have to ask him about a recommendation for an audio shop anyway...

'I was passing on info seen in another discussion and what I was told when I called Top Shop.'

Yes, and I thought it prudent to reflect the ACTUAL cost quoted as of 6/27/03 in person by the owner, Terry.

'It seems your complaint is not about the quality of the work but the fact they could not get to it. '

Actually it is both; and more. I had a panel replaced by TS 2 years ago which did not have a great color match and did not use the same stitching as it had originally. I spoke to this when I originally wrote they "would stitch the seats with the original stitching which Top Shop had used a different non NSX stitch and match the panels when they were done". Maybe you missed that.
Regarding not getting to it, I went to the shop with the car and pointed out exactly what I wanted done and that I would have the car available for two days en toto in order to verify that they indeed would be able to have enough time to get the job done. In fact, as I pointed out, I called earlier in the week verifying this. But what is really frustrating is the fact that I had taken time (=$) away from my practice in order to have this done without any problems, and of course they created a problem where there should not have been one. Just piss poor customer service.

'As you never actually had the work done it's likely hard to say what they would have charged. '

See above.

You needn't. I can vouch for their work as I picked up the seat today and can say that they did a FANTASTIC job without qualification. The leather work looks factory original, the color match and finish is near flawless, the cost is half of what TS quoth, it was done in less than half the time TS requires and I could not ask for a more pleasant, professional group of folks to work with. Thank you Verdone for a job well done at a time when I needed it!

Tucson NSX seats & Verdonnes

Thanks to Chris@SOS and Brickdds for the info on Verdonnes. I just picked up my seats yesterday and they are flawless!! I couldn't beleive they were my old seats. :D They look factory new and I couldn't stop looking at them. It was a bit of a drive from Tucson to Scottsdale but worth every mile. Todd and Jeff at Verdonnes are awesome to work with. They finished before their estimated time, only charged $450 (with tax) for both seats (seven panels replaced) and redyed both seats perfectly. Thanks guys. One step closer to the perfect NSX.

You are welcome. I am glad to see that they did as well for you as they did for me. Heck, I even got a thank you card in the mail this week. A pleasant surprise in an era where it seems too many businesses have lost touch with customer service and value to the customer. For TS to charge multiples of what Verdone does for the same job and take substantially more time, not to mention the inept handling of the job through inexcusably pathetic communication suggests that some businesses may be living off of reputation... Well it takes more than that. Everyone knows that the most important form of business growth is word of mouth. The word is getting around.
So when is the Tucson get together>

Communication

Well this is an example of the forum serving its purpose--a person asked for help, got info on two shops, a choice was made and we have a happy member.

AS I indicated before-i was just providing info seen in this same forum previously. It would seem that Verdonnes' provides excellent work at lower prices than Top Shop based upon NSXpnsv's final outcome..If I need work on my own seats in the future, I would certainly use Verdonnes given no changes..
