I'm thinking about replacing the hoses on the engine with stainless steel mesh hoses. Does anyone know a good source for these? Do they have to be custom made to the correct lengths or can I buy by the foot from an auto parts store?

I've seen the Dali Racing kit. Was wondering if these could be bought or made for less than $255.

I don't know about this specific item, but usually, when something is easily bought or made for a lower price, Dali does it that way and passes along the savings. Yes, Dali makes a profit on what they sell, but it's usually pretty modest - low enough that it's a lot easier to just get it from them, rather than try to fabricate it yourself.

Spectre makes a kit that will simulate real braided hoses at fraction of the cost. They
are braided sleeves that slide over the existing lines and have faux high-pressure ends that look pretty good. Available at Jegs, Summit, etc.

Ah! For those who want their cars to look like they have performance modifications, even though they don't.

performance parts? yep, those REAL stainless braided hoses are probably good for at least 10hp!! who cares, ken you of all people im sure would rather have OEM hoses than those aftermarket hoses. now you can have your cake and eat it too.

- rob, with the dali 10 pc stainless hoser kit

I believe those are Earl's you can see them at www.truechoice.com those are the real thing. The Spectre kit you have to take off your Hoses and slide the Braided piece over them.

Hey, here's an idea for you entrepreneurs around here. How about a FBSC - a Faux Boost Supercharger? It's a chromed metal piece that looks just like a BaschBoost Supercharger, but costs thousands less! It bolts onto the top of your engine and doesn't interfere with its operation in any way. And looking at it, you can't tell it from the real thing, except in acceleration.
