Any ideas on this?
It only makes this sound at low speed under the initial turning of the wheel.
Are there any parts on the steering rack that are replaceable that could cause this, or is more of just replace the entire steering rack?

Few more details.
It doesn't do it in the rain. Has to be related to the force needed to turn the tires.
Seems to do it more when turning to the right than the left.

Searching around looking at other cars that have electric steering, it looks like a lot of people are pointing to the electric motor on the rack. I don't think that's replaceable. We'll see. Time to turn this one over to the guru at Acura and let him figure it out.

They said it could not be done:
I had my EPS rack rebuilt by a PRIME member. I am thrilled with the results. PM if you want the details and contact information.
Replacement rack is in the mid $6K! Rebuild was a grand plus shipping.

^^^^^^This is true. If the rack is not working, D1Guy can completely rebuild the rack. And way cheaper than buying a new one or chancing a good used one for a fraction of the cost. Ask me how I know.

Man, HG and steering rack? The NSX gods have not been kind to you.

When the EPS dies, is it possible to just disconnect the power to it and have manual steering? I am assuming rebuilds are only necessary if you actually care about having power steering.

It has been a trying & expensive year but the car is perfect now. Yes, you can just disconnect the power to the EPS brain in the passenger footwell & drive in manual mode but why? This can be fixed.
