Was that an HPDE or a parade lap? Other than a race, I've never seen so many cars "bunched up" close to each other. Where is the blue flag?
Me thinks that since many of the cars have two occupants, it is an HPDE. But what I find "uncomfortable" is that as expensive these cars are.....I don't see a single driver giving an it's ok to pass me signal. Of course the 333 is an exception - but why is he not further ahead of the back that is behind him?
It was an HPDE outing. There were many passes, some safe and some questionable, over the course of two days. I have approximately 1500 photos uploaded on my photography website if anyone is bored and wants to check out all of the cars. You can click on the link in my signature.
The photos of the "train" of cars were taken under "yellow" laps. One of the photos above with the side by side shots was taken at hot lap speeds of the Advanced group.
A Canon L series 100-400 was used for all shots. That L series lens has built-in image stabilization so all photos were handheld. I was going to add a 2x converter but I had good shooting positions on the track so I didn't need to bump it up. The camera is a Canon D60.
I used the same setup for my NSXPO 2003 track photos.
MANY compact flash cards, ranging from 256mb to 1 gig. I get approximately 425 photos at full res on a 1 gig card and generally carry at least 3 gig worth of memory (but a laptop does come in handy in a pinch). I took over 2000 photos in total at the event.
BTW, Pete was not instructing but did come up to visit on Saturday. He saw me in the flag station at start/finish but I left before I knew he was there.
