33 Cars entered.
33 Honda motors.
20 Cars finished.
08 Cars crashed.
03 Cars out-Handling problem.
01 Car out-Electrical problem.
01 Car out-Suspension failure.
3,422-Total laps by all cars.
8,555-Total miles by all cars.

I think it's safe to say that the Honda motor is pretty reliable. I wonder how many cars would have finished if the motors were all supplied by a rival Italian manufacturer.

When Honda has no competition, there is no reason for them to push the envelope. Why should they try and tweak the engines for more HP if every car has an identical engine. Of course they are going to make it the full distance.

How many engine failures have they had this year in the Champ Car Series sponsored by FORD?

This isn't pushing the envelope?

# That the 3.0-liter, ethanol-powered engines of IndyCar Series cars produce more than 650 horsepower, nearly four times that of the average street car?

# That each of the eight pistons in an IndyCar Series engine travels nearly 1 mile up and down in the cylinder every minute?

# That each of the eight pistons in an IndyCar Series engine is subjected to a maximum acceleration of 70,000 times the force of gravity?

# That an IndyCar Series car accelerates from 0 to 100 mph in less than three seconds, more than nine seconds quicker than it takes a production Porsche 911 Turbo street car to reach the same speed?

Not to mention the fact that the cars can reach speeds of 220MPH.

Aren't the individual teams allowed to tweak their motors or are they all identical and sealed like the old IROC cars?

hugh, where did you get some of that info ?

They are sealed from the factory.
