I don't know if this is the best forum to list this on, but it looked great on my red NSX (S2000 steering wheel) before I went back to OEM Acura badging. Suggestions for a better forum to list it in are welcome.

This airbag is from a JDM CTR, DC5 Type R. Fits S2000, DC5 Civic (and others), and RSX steering wheels. Looks much better on the NSX with a S2000 steering wheel than the OEM chrome or white S2000 airbag. Direct replacement on an S2000, especially a red one! Selling because I've gone back to Acura badging.

Perfect condition. The pictures seem to show a water spot, but that's just a reflection of stuff in the room.

I also have a 4 wire multi-phase charge (S2000-AP2 or RSX) which I can include if desired, if picked up. It bolts right in. AP1 or other similar 2 wire charges fit right in as well.

Asking $250 + shipping. Could bring to NSXPO.

I've been wanting to convert to S2000 wheel so this might just push me over the edge. :-D

NSXPO bump. Can bring with.

So.... This airbag will work/function in a NA1? Does it require a lot of modification?

I have been looking for a steering wheel for a long time.. didnt know an S2000 one would be compatible...

I want to be clear so buyers know what they are getting. This is the airbag (in its cover) from a JDM Civic Type R, I believe, which has the same steering wheel and airbag as the S2000, RSX, and a couple other Hondas from that era. It will drop right into a S2000 steering wheel. This airbag and cover suits the NSX much better than the S2000 airbag because it has a red "H" vs. the chrome or white ones which came on the S2000.

However, you do have to source & install a S2000 steering wheel. There is a "Hagasan" adapter required because the NSX steering shaft has a very rare tooth count. See the link referenced in my 1st post (and the links in that link) on how to do this. S2000 wheel is also the same as the RSX wheel.

However, the other issue to be clarified is the airbag charge. Although the airbag and cosmetic cover were the same and are interchangeable, there were 2 different airbag charges used. The AP1 S2000 uses a single stage SRS and charge, as does the NSX, so placing an S2000 AP1 charge in this airbag will allow it to connect to the NSX SRS wiring. The single stage charges can be identified by the fact that they only have 2 wires. However, the AP2 S2000 and RSX came with the 2-stage SRS system and charge which can fire at 3 different explosive strengths based on the severity of the crash (Low, High, or both.) These charges have 4 wires and this is what I have, as you can see in the pictures. You cannot place the regular 1-stage OEM NSX charge into this airbag.

So these are the options for this airbag/airbag cover/charge:
  1. The 2-stage charge can be easily bolted into the airbag and it will drop right into a AP2 S2000.
  2. A 1-stage charge can be sourced from any AP1 S2000 airbag and placed in this airbag. It will then drop right into a AP1 S2000, OR a NSX modified to accept a S2000 wheel, and could be connected to the NSX SRS system, according to what I've read in the past.
  3. The airbag charge can be left out, meaning you will have no airbag function. You may have read of some of the recent issues with old airbags going off inappropriately, causing injuries, and I personally believe that it is now probably safer to disable any airbag over 25 years old, provided you wear your seat belt. Note that to do this, you need to remove the charge, not just place the red "safety" shunt on the connector, because the process for the premature firing is often chemical decay, unrelated to the trigger wire signal. This charge removal is what I did originally with this "H" airbag, and now do with an "A" airbag. The undeployed airbag with the red "H" cover but no charge can then drop into any S2000, RSX, or NSX modified with a S2000 wheel. To avoid the SRS indicator on the dash, you will need to jumper the SRS wiring in the wheel, either with a straight shunt for the NSX, or 1 or 2 resistors (4 Ohm?) in the case of the S2000. I don't know the details of bypassing S2000 SRS systems so you will have to look that up separately.
I will say that switching to the S2000 wheel was the best mod I've done. It's so much more comfortable and also has the horn button where you expect to find it, and milliseconds count when trying to avoid a collision.

Hope that helps,

Sold. Thanks Prime.

(Sold to a Prime member that I ran into 3 times when I had it with me at NSXPO, but we had no idea of Prime usernames so now I'm shipping it from Canada... Apparently they are considering putting Prime usernames on the ID badges again at future NSXPO. (y)(y))
