We took a 'short drive' after breakfast on the holiday (4th of July) and ended up in Dyersville, Iowa at the 'Field of Dreams' movie site.

There was a good-sized crowd there -- evidently John Kerry and his posse had just come through town for an impromptu game in the cornfields...

Interesting to see the reaction of the locals -- got a lot of compliments, including several from the folks that owned the field/house/farm.

Including this wide-mouthed fan...

Hey Honda -- if you build it (the next one)... they will surely come :)

Nice pic, Manny! Wish I knew you guys were going to end up so close to my neck of the woods, could have gotten away for a couple hours.

Looks great!

I lived in the midwest for many years (in Bettendorf and DesMoines in IA, Rock Island, North Chicago, and Waukegan in IL). In fact I was just in the Quad Cities about a month ago for a few days.

Have you guys checked out the covered bridges of Madison county? I thought it was a nice drive... just watch out for the gravel roads.

The drive up to Galena, IL and the Eagle Ridge resort is pleasant as well. There a lots of things to do in the area (historical landmarks, antique shops). They have some pretty nice golf courses there too! In the wintertime there are a few ski resorts (large hills) in the area.

Did some of those last year, in another car. Nice countryside scenery, but you're not kidding about those dusty gravel roads.

For Western/movie fans, close to Madison County is John Wayne's birthplace. Also a cool motorcycle museum not too far away.

Where is Madison County??

(*Nice Miata Manuel. ;) )

The covered bridges were made famous by Robert Waller's 1992 novel and the 1995 movie (starring Robert Redford and Merryl Streep) titled "The Bridges of Madison County". The movie was nominated for several academy awards.
