In this thread @Honcho recommended 15/16 wheels and Michelin X-snows I'm hoping somebody can check my math/assumptions and make a recommendation between the two options below.
All figures are taken from this Tire Size Calculator.
I'm running the fat fives on my '92 and the X-snows are still available, so that's all good news. After learning about TCS, it looks like I want to stay within 5% of the stock ratio of rear/front wheel diameters.
Stock:
205/50/15, 23.1" Front
225/50/16, 24.9" Rear
Ratio is 1.077
Option 1:
185/60/15, 23.7" Front
205/55/16, 24.9" Rear
Ratio is 1.056
Option 2:
185/60/15, 23.7" Front
205/60/16, 25.7 Rear
Ratio is 1.08
If my math is correct then either option is within the 5% limit. Am I better off with option 1 as the overall sizes are closer to stock, or should I go with option 2 as the rear wheels will wear more quickly and possibly drop me out of the 5% window at some point down the road?
