well i had these wheels ordered for sometime now. and got them right before sema. i used the 18/19" set of the custom made "TIME ATTACK" matte black GT-V's for sema, but now decided to try on these wheels. i like them... i know they're a bit extreme and some might not... so i thought i'd just get the feel for what you guys think (try the poll - GT-V's vs. Super Advans).

these wheels are a bit smaller (17/18") instead of the larger (18/19") combo on the volks. advan doesn't make the 19's so had to keep it one step smaller. makes the big brakes look more aggressive as it fills out the wheel space real well! this is their special chrome-finish on the advans...perhaps in future i might try to get them 'black chromed'...

enjoy!

of course, besides the vote... your feedbacks would be great!

do you have pics of the 'old' setup so we can compare before we vote?

not a big fan of either but if you leave the chrome ones on, please do something about the center hubs where they are nice and rusty; that takes away from the project as a whole because now its just glaring at you since everything else is so nice and clean... thats the only downside of the chrome ones that i can see... otherwise very nice.

On your car the volks for sure, but please sell me the advans those are my all time favorite wheels. What is the price on those puppies there so hard to find.

Super Advan. Leave the centre spokes chrome pls. Love the looks of meaty body, meaty tires and meaty wheels.

i admire you for trying out the new wheels, but for some reason i see 3 spoke wheels and think circa-1980 for some reason, i have just never grown to love them on anycar. I love the volks, well, because i love the volks.

But EITHER way, i still love the car. Eye candy is eye candy plain and simple.

Advans!

They look so futuristic, just like the rest of the car. Its a perfect match.

I think it looks nice. The wheels really show of the brakes. I've never been a fan of the old (Antera) 3 spoke wheels myself but the Advans are fresh. It has a cool new/old retro look. Like they say, "black is the new black" . Nice job, body kit looks well fitted also. I like the gray "pearly" paint. Very few cars can pull off that color without looking cheap.

They look sick as hell, and more importantly, you like them - paint your hubs flat black, and keep the advans.

yeah, i just got them mounted early this week. so either i'll be pulling them off to sand off the rust first, then coat it with rustoleum or does anyeone have anything better? that's durable and can resist heat?

either that, or i just saw on advan's website they now have new centercaps for them... in which case i'll try to snag a set of those...

I voted Volk, those 3 spoke are old school...

it seems like a lot of people think the 3 spoke design is old school... i've seen the antera ones... and yes they do look a bit old school. i just love the advan wheels cuz of its split spoke design, along with the fact that a lot of the super drifter cars seem to be rocking these wheels.

its funny to see how ONE wheel has such extreme differences in perspective... look at post #15 and then #16. but thanks to all opinions....

even racing hart recently jumped on the band wagon to knock off these designs in their own line up...

yeah, i've been pretty fickle about wheels... pretty much for all my car projects. trying to always push limitations of factory specs... i was one of the first to start the advans on the elise and slowly is being received well... the matte blacks on the GTV's were at one point custom  (go to SOS if you want your own DANIEL edition GT-V's... i kiddd i kidd)....

and finally these advans. my wheel source was saying these wheels would be ULTRA rare in the US.... i know SNDSOUL is rocking a hot set himself...

so time will tell... this vote race is close... hahaa... no run away winners here!

THANKS GUYS....

btw, thanks vroom for the feedback... yeah, i love the open space in the advans that window off the brembos perfectly.... PLUS the added benefit of SUPER EASY cleaning of the rims

I voted for the Volks, But dang the Advan's look so nice and Old School.

The advans i would mostly see on Nissan Rides like Silvias, but they look good with you setup and color.

I like the Advans now!

When I removed my SSR centercaps I took one wheel off at a time, cleaned the hub with brake cleaner, and brushed 2 light coats of paint onto the hub.

I sprayed some high-temp VHT flat black caliper paint into a plastic freezer bag, and brushed it onto the hub with a model car paint brush... The caliper paint, in light coats, dries in under 2 minutes, no masking, no rust sanding, and the entire event took around 30 minutes. It's been about 6 months, and there are no problems with the paint.

thanks for the headsup and the tip!!!

I agree that 3-spoke designs are risky at best but I really like the 3-spoke Advans on your car!!

As for the paint you could also use the DupliColor brush-on brake caliper paint kit (available at AutoZone, WalMart, etc). It comes with a can, masking tape, and a brush. This paint is VERY durable.
