What is the going rate for a non-snap ring 5 speed tranny?

If you do have a snap ring tranny, what's the cost to replace the case?

Dali Racing sells the parts (the case and the snap ring) for around $700.

The labor to open up the tranny is typically 12-16 hours, I believe, at your favorite facility's hourly rate. The actual operations, such as replacing the case, replacing the snap ring, replacing various synchros or gears, etc, are included in that labor total.

So, assuming the snap ring tranny is out of the car it would cost approx $700 to make it "good."

I spoke with Joe at ERZ he has two one with low miles I think it was 95 and he wanted some ware around $1,500.

I just went through snap ring fiasco. Now after changing the case everything is great.

If your tranny is in the snap ring range I would just change the case it is such a quick fix and results are instant. I didn't have to pay for labor so I didn't feel it as much in my packet only for parts but it depends on how you want to deal with this pesky snap ring.

There are a few more parts you will need in addition to the upper case.

They are listed on the Dali Racing website where they are offered as a package for $643.

I don't know that I would call 12-16 hours of labor a "quick fix". If you're having tranny work done anyway (hub selectors/synchros, gear swaps, etc) and/or the tranny is out of the car, by all means go for it. But otherwise, if I had a snap ring car, I would wait for it to fail, and do it at that time or the next time the tranny needed service, whichever came first.
