Smoked Tailights

I have been to a few shows, and seen various tailights tinted. However, these look like professional jobs where the lens is still shiny (not dull from a spray-on). Do they take apart the tailights and coat the insides?

How do they do it and has it been done on 2002+ NSX tailights?

I know some of you don't like that sort of thing, but I was just wondering.

I have never seen it done on a 2002+ tail light but the JDM tail lights are smoked
