I went to top off the NSX (pretty much getting it ready for winter) and when I popped the gas door a small metal piece fell out. It went into a drain under my car and I couldn't retrieve it. Does anyone know what this is or what it does? Also do I need it? If so how hard is it to reinstall, I don't imagine it being too expensive.

It is the spring to pop the door open when you pull the release in the car.

You will struggle to get the fuel door open without it.

or you can part one off any honda I have used one from a 1993 accord had to bend it a little to fit but it works fine.

there is a plastic plate that the gas door screws onto and it is thicker than the accord so you need to bend the prongs out a little to clear this thickness.

i might have an extra one sitting around will PM you if i have one.

Sorry to hear that Nukem, was something loose possible screw to cause this spring to fall off? What can one do to avoid this spring from coming off? Anything to tighten?
