Slight clicking noise upon hard acceleration?

I don't know if it's in my head or not, but when I accelerate hard the car makes a slight click when it's about 4500 RPM, then again when it's close to 6000. It seems near the VTEC engagement points? It sounds like it's coming from the gauge cluster or somewhere up front, not toward the engine bay. It is very faint, but I can notice it. I have a 1991 NSX.

Any ideas?

The fuel pump runs at two settings, normal and higher-pressure-than-normal. I hope that's not too technical

Anyway, the click is almost for sure the fuel pump switching into high gear.

That sound threw me the first time I heard it too.

The FAQ mentions the fuel pump relay click at about 4000 RPM. It also says that VTEC kicks in around 5800, but doesn't mention a click. I wonder if you're hearing something related to that?
