Sleeping NSX, sleeping soul...

The morning sun cracks over the morning dew as yet another warm summer night ends, and the silent garage door sits snugly closed. Tucked neatly away behind it rests the motorcars that contain the soul and lifeblood of a now far, far away pilot. He is nowhere to be found as the polished pair from Tochigi slumber quietly in the stark darkness of their garage cacoon. A place where the light does not penetrate, the early August breeze fails to caress their aluminum bodywork, their masterfully constructed handbuilt hearts remain idle, and time itself has stopped. There are no late afternoon blasts down a deserted coutry road now...for their pilot has gone away to begin the process of starting a new life somewhere else, somewhere where his soul sleeps lifeless.

On this same morning, at the same time, yet hundreds of miles away, the pilot wakes to yet another day. Wiping the hours of restless sleep from his eyes, the morning sun as his alarm clock....he begins the process of suiting up for another day of anonymity on the roadways. Walking quietly past his still sleeping wife, the pilot makes his way to the front door where he grabs the keys to the uninspired domestic transport that his company supplied him as part of his most recent promotion. It is still before 7 a.m. as he slides into the drab gray interior, turns the ignition, and think to himself that there has to more to life than this.

Merging onto the crowded rat maze with his fellow morning travelers the pilot travels back mentally to a time seemingly a lifetime ago when the mornings began with the powerful roar of a Taitec JGTC exhaust barking its greeting to him. A time when the mundane was replaced with precise and sure gear shifts through one of the most finely engineered transmissions ever created. A smile cracks as he reminds himself of the great joy that would ripple through his soul as he would turn the aluminum key and wake the beast and power off into the great beyond, sure that life was best spent in the cockpit of a fine motorcar such as this. Countless mornings had been spent flying fast and low with the wind whistling as it was broken by the wedge shaped capsule containing him....and containing his dreams.

He remembers the times when everything in life seemed to fall apart and he would seek refuge in the one thing that never hurt him or left him screaming at the sky....his NSX. As the buildings crumbled and the ashes lay smoldering his NSX was always there to put him back together again after the storms of emotional and professional life took their toll on him. Relentless in its ability to mend the damage done by stress, high goals, and life expectations, the NSX bridged the space between reality and fanatasy....success and failure....life and death. Never failing in its powers to make him feel whole again, to know that everything in life is in perspective taking, it was always there as his foundation of strength and determination to live life to the fullest...always there waiting for him to call.

Pulling into the office building here in Anytown, U.S.A. he is violently jerked back into the world of suits and ties....power lunches and golf outings....meaningly meetings and conference calls. His workdays are long, and his free time is restricted, as somewhere in the north end of the state, somewhere in his dreams, the NSX's lay resting with the morning sun cracking over the morning dew of yet another warm summer day.

Another charming, poetic account from you Meeyatch about the special bond between NSX owner and the car itself. It's amazing what an attachment we can have to our cars and how much of an influence they have on some of our lives. Yet another excellent job of capturing that special bond and putting it to words.

Very creative Mitch! I'm showing my girlfriend right now and she says "Ahhh now I understand NSX ownership"...

She thinks its cool...

Thank you! I am glad that it helped out, and that others appreciate the NSX and how it impacts some of us. It is more than 'just a car'. Much more.
