has anyone here done the skip barber school? worth it? I am trying to decide between the $1400 one day or $2400 two day school. In advice?

I did the 3 Day Racing School and the 2 Day Advanced Racing School and thought it was well worth it in addition to being a tremendous amount of fun. Are you talking about just the driving school because I am not aware of a 1 day Racing School. There is a big difference in the nature of the activities but both formats are highly useful.

EDIT: I just checked their site and notice that they have added an HPDE equivalent school but I have no personal knowledge of the "value" of their program. However, I would point out that their two day program would cost the same as 10 days with Trackmasters at Watkins Glen so it depends on what your "goal" is.

yeah I was talking about the high performance driving school. They have a one day and a two day. I don't know what to go for.

I don't know if it will be too basic. I have done some track driving before... a long time ago. I wouldn't consider myself that good. I tell you since buying the NSX I am really starting to see my own driving skill shortcomings. With this car, I need to be better.

I am thinking of joining some of the track events, but I really need to brush up my skills first so I don't look like Hellen Keller driving and embarassing the NSX community.

If your goal is to become a track rat, then I would stick with Trackmasters. If you are going to try to be a better street driver, go with Skip's 2 day driving school. It is less expensive than their Performance School and you can put the extra thousand toward 4 days at the Glen with the focus being on track performance driving.

Another option would be the one day combo at Skip and then 4 days with Trackmasters.

Just my .02 - others may disagree with their opinions being just as valid.

I took a class at www.springmountainmotorsports.com You get to drive corvettes all day. At the time I wanted to get a C6 , What better way to learn how to drive a corvette ? with someone else's corvette !
Its about 40 min from the Vegas strip. I learned alot from the class and felt I was a better driver. It made me appreciate my NSX so much more.

are you taking the carrera driving course ?

May I suggest "Deals Gap" and "The Dragon". It's FREE ! Just 321 curves in 11 miles. Robinsville North Carolina down to Maryville, TN.
If that doesn't make you a better driver, nothing will !!!
People come from all over the US & Europe to drive this road.
Auto commercials filmed here also.
My '91 NSX loves the "exercise" !
Give it a thought.
Best Regards, Deborah from Knoxville

learn performance driving on the street. its a big race track with obsticles

I love to street race

In regards to your question, I think a day of HPDE is a good place to re-enter with decent instruction (perhaps even at NSXPO) and is most helpful with the car you are actually going to drive. It's neat to go to a school and drive an open wheel car, but the handling characteristics may be quite different from the NSX.

YMMV.

I was thinking of getting a vette, that is why I went to springmountainmotorsports.com But this forum (lots of great guys in this forum) and test driving a NSX completely changed my mind. I bgt the car that I test drove, that is how much I love the car

I saw the radicals lined up in the paddock. That looked very interesting.

maybe later this year

who said it was jest

no one said anything about street racing. Just performance driving. Two different things, but performance driving + street racing = winning combination.
