Can someone tell me what the deal is with skip barber and helmets?

1) Do they let you use your own?

2) Do they provide them if you don't have yours?

3) If they provide them, do they have enough selection for something proper?

I am asking because a friend I am going with only has an M2000 helmet. Should he buy an SA2010 before we go? and then bring it on the plane ride?

Thanks guys

First of all, I can guarantee that they won't allow a M helmet as you will be driving cars not riding motorcycles. Secondly, call them because for what they charge they should be giving you a free helmet. I would think that a 1st class operation like Skippy provides loaner helmets.

Re: Well chances are..........

if he's willing to spring for a Skippy school, he'll be hooked enough to eventually need his own helmet and buying his own now will be a prundent investment.

Helmet fit is the most potentially distracting thing about comfort and focus in the cockpit, so minimize that chance.

They will have decent enough helmets I'm sure, but, having his own will be one less thing to worry about when getting overwhelmed with the equipment checkout.

He has a Ducati that he runs at the track and street sometimes. Are there any issues with using an SA helmet for a motorcycle? I would think not...

Thanks and I will advise him on getting one before we go.

There are some design differences that some would not notice or can easily ignore. Like me, since I ride so seldom on borrowed bikes. But if he's hardcore enough to do track days on the bike, the differences should be important to him. Go to the SNELL website and get the run down to make an informed choice.
