Skid pad measures the cornering G-force while driving the car in a circle on a smooth surface.  The higher the number the better.  In essence it's measuring how sticky your tires are and how well the car balances the weight across each wheel best utilizing the tire grip.  The NSX has VERY soft tires, but also very narrow compared to a Vette.


Mercedes has a prototype car which varies the camber while turning.  They claim it’ll pull something like 1.2 G’s on a skid pad.  If true, and it makes production, that technology will be a huge leap forward.
