Sirius (SIRI) Stock- Yay or Nay?

I am all happy as I bought 7500 shares @.54 cents when Lehman was dumping.
Right there with ya. 4500 @ .71cents and I have 3 XM radios and 0 Sirius.

I'd still buy it at 5 bucks.
Sat radio is here to stay.

I am a howard stern fan I dumped my XM and got 3 Sirius radios. I wish Howard had come to XM. Would have put sirius out of business.

In my opinion, Sirius is inferior to XM for me.

1. Music quality of XM is better. Sirius sounds tinny and compressed.
2. Unsensored comidy on XM is better. Sirius has a deejay who has a talk show at 5:00 when I drive home. I don't like listening to him. Also, the comics they put on are mostly no-names, and many are not funny.
3. Old tyme radio channel on XM was better. Played mostly suspense shows like The Shadow, Dragnet, X-1, Sirius plays more music and comedy.

PS. I don't like paying for it, and satallite radio is inconvienent, but.... gotta have Howard.

Its been up at nine before.

I didn't get in as early as you all, but I got a lot at around a buck. I've sold it all off since. Made some fast cash off of them.

Fundamentally speaking, they have a lot of cash, but a lot of obligations as well. Not sure when it will pop, but it will be up there eventually. Its been hammered pretty good as of late so now might be a good time to buy for the long term. In comparison, XM is in the twenties.

Huh...when I bought my Infiniti, they gave me six months of XM for free. I thought XM sounded tinny and compressed. I thought the quality was awful, thats why i didn't keep my subscription.

You know you can just download the show from bittorrent each day don't you? Buy a cheap mp3 player and play it via fm transmitter or something. For the record, i hear that it isn't legal though.

Red Herring had an interesting blurb on this story this week. Both companies are bleeding cash at astronomical rates, and are in a bidding war for talent. The cost of acquiring new subscribers is escalating faster than the increase in subscriptions.

They both had higher grosses last 12 months, but the red ink grew by a much larger percentage. Probably only way to get in the black is to start pricing ala carte as the cable industry has done for the last 20 years. JMHO.

The tech stock fun should have taught a few lessons about how to value companies, NOT!

I had XM too, and had to get Sirius for Howard. I have the opposite opininon.
After having XM for 3 months
i stopped using it. "100 channels, but nothing on."...Not really but
I could never find music I liked on my presets.

So I get Sirius 3 months ago, and it is all I listen too. I constantly find at least 2 or 3 presests with music I want to listen to.

2 weeks ago I pick up a truck from GA. and drive it to PA. I hooked up th XM...I don't like XM.

I think XM might have better talk and comedy, But IMO Sirus has better music choices by a mile.

I made a good killing on SIRI too....sold it at mid 6.

Here's some food of thoughts....

1) How fast can they grow now with Howard Stern?
2) Did all of Howard listeners converted to SIRIUS already?
3) The real Howard fan is probably on SIRIUS already.
4) Can SIRIUS lure more customers, especially non-Howard fans?

Personally, I think SIRIUS paid too much for Howard and the ROI won't benefit the shareholder/company.

For me, I do enjoy listening to Howard in the morning, but I'm not going to subscribe to SIRIUS because of him. I still enjoy my music CDs in the car...and listen to my CDs 99% of the time.

Good luck,

SIRI is more of a day-trading stock and obviously has a very high turn-over rate. Lately, the stock has been getting hit very hard after Stern dumped a lot of his shares on the market and a CBS filed a lawsuit against Stern for contract violations, which has a lot of investers jumping ship.

I still have holdings in SIRI and going to wait this downturn out and see what happens. Even though it has fallen below the $5 range today.

K, I think the knife has fallen as far as its going to.....time to buy.

Why bother trying to decide who's going to win the battle? Buy both. IMO the play isn't XM vs. SIRI, it's sat radio versus traditional. And sat radio is killing traditional, now that the up front costs have been expended. As long as the two companies are *responsible* and don't start competing on price (which I don't think they have), they will both win.

Because assuming that the two are equally succesful, SIRI has more upside potential.

Personally, I think SIRI is overvalued, even at its current price. The only way it can justify its current ~$5 price is with higher than expected growth in revenues because of Stern.

If I had to pick between XM and SIRI, XM is my pick. XM has a much more favorable Firm value-to-Gross Profit Margin ratio - the only positive indicative ratio available for either company really. SIRI also has a smaller base, higher subscription costs per additional customer, and weaker Asian automaker distribution.

Sure Stern is attracting a lot of customers, but is it worth the price SIRI paid? How many additional customers are going to sign up because of Stern?
