Side or Driver lights

I apologize for not knowing the exact name of the light; however, we all have the small marker lights and then the popup lights. I like to call the side marker lights "secondary" lights.

I have noticed a yellow hue from my lights; and I was curious if there was a possibility that my plastic lens may have faded somewhat. It would be nice to make them somewhat brighter. I enjoy driving on a sem-cloudy day, down a nice tree shaded road, or in the early evening when it starts to get a little dark and I swich on my "secondary" lights. Sure I could purchase fog lights; however I dont like the fit in the NSX grill. Has anyone modified these lights in particular?

Wow,

Thanx Faq Nazi...I never thought about changing my side marker lights. But I am not talking about the orange marker lights on the fender. I am talking about the driver lights just below the Headlights. IOW, the lights that come on when you turn the light switch just to the first click. The second click of course pops up the headlights. It is the lights that first come on that I am curious about. I know RM racing did offer bulbs for the Headlights and Driver lights. I do not believe they are sold any longer. I want to increase the lighting of those particular lights.

The avatar from "Jim" in Chicago, IL shows a great front view with the lights I am refering to on. Wish I knew how to paste it on this post. My HTML skills are a bit dry sorry.

Oops, sorry. I knew you were talking about the parking lights in the front bumper. I didn't realize that the company in the link is apparently selling only the side marker lights and not the parking light lenses...

You can change the bulb for the parking light to a brighter one. I changed mine out to the Raybrig HID look, and it's much brighter and whiter than the OEM.

I had to change it because I changed the OEM headlight bulbs to some "HID" look bulbs, so the color of the headlights were brighter/whiter than the parking lights. Now they look identical, and are both brighter/whiter.

Private me if you need more info.

btw...there is a yellow lens sealed inside the housing, which is why if you look at the lamps from the front, it has a "yellowish" hue/glow/reflection from it. Could this be what you're referring to? Or is the clear lens on yours fading/yellowing?

I was never aware that there is a yellow film in the lens. Why would Acura do that? Well I really do not think the lens is fading or yellowing. If there are brighter bulbs available I will get them. However, would that pose the same problems of using higher wattage bulbs? where adding bulbs of higher wattage places damaging stress on the wiring. Would it be best to simply remove the yellow film from the front "clear" lens?

Thanx for the input

Actually, on my NSX, the glass covering the secondary lamps is very dull, and seems to be discolored; I think it's the same problem that you're mentioning, blades.

I thought about getting new glass and new bulbs, but I can imagine what that would cost.

I wouldn't bother removing the yellow lens inside the clear housing, IMO it's not worth all the trouble.

There is a yellowish color coming from the front clear lens, but not bright enough to bother anyone(at least I don't think so). I doubt the new bulbs will hurt the wiring harness, as they are the same volts/watts as the OEM, they're just brighter/whiter.

I also use these same bulbs for the license plate lights, and they look great, even though the license plate bulbs use the bigger wedge bulbs(12v/8w).

Replace it and you'll notice the difference.

These lenses can be polished to new-like condition. Both 3M and Megiuars offer 2-step plastic polishes. Use both for great results.

HEY!!

Well alright!

I will get the brighter bulbs and clean the plastic lens with the above mentioned cleaners. Thanx alot guys. Its rare indeed that an NSX related problem will not be solved on this site, no matter how insignificant.
