So I've finally had the time to drop the car off to get the side markers installed on the NSX. My goal is to install JDM style side markers, fill the USDM side markers, and re-spray the front bumper. I'm having done by DTM Autobody in El Monte. They have a great reputation with body work and paint.

Before shots: The front bumper is definitely lighter than the rest of the car, so it stands out like a sore thumb.

Day 1: The USDM side markers were filled with fiberglass and finished with a thin coat of bondo. The fiberglass was heat treated when placed into the USDM side marker hole to minimize/prevent the effects of thermal expansion and contraction.

The side marker outline was made from a spare S2K fender at the shop.

^ That's correct.

I pieced together the kit. I purchased amber (clear is also available) side markers for an S2K, the pigtails, sockets, and bulbs (size 168). All from Honda for around $60.

Dali Racing has them listed on his website, but I don't know if they include all i listed above. If it's as shown from their picture, it looks like it does. Contact him to make sure you get all the correct parts.

They aren't repainting the whole bumper and fenders???

they primed all bare metal as of now. fenders and bumper will be fully repainted.

Now i know what my car looks like when the bumper is getting repainted lol. Car has been gone a week and feels like forever. Get it back tommrow. As for the markers, it looks cool. I blacked out my front and am doing the rear this weekend.

I'm not sure how you are going to power your lights.

I originally extended the pigtails from the S2000 harness and made plugs to go into the OEM female socket side markers. What I forgot was when the lights are turned on the US spec side markers stay on...I did not like that.

So, I ended up making longer ones to tap into the turn marker up front at the time I did the 02 conversion.... it was easy to reach with the front end off.. I didn't really worry about not being seen from the side withthe 02 headlights. I also tried reversing wires to see if they would wigwag.. they did.. Hope this helps.

It was much easier running to the OEM location. but it looks better when the sidemarker comes on with the front turn signal.

Ok good. So why did they only do just the spots in your pictures? I hope you got them to completely remove the fenders and bumper from the car to do the respray.

thanks for the heads up. my original idea is the same route as yours. DTM will wire up to the turn signals with reverse wiring. I like the "wig wag" and dislike the lights being on constantly when not turning.

They will completely remove all parts being resprayed and realign.

This is where all the side markers should of been placed on ALL NSX's. The USA is soooo lame sometimes.

After a full week, the car is back home. Special thanks goes out to all the guys at DTM. They have given me special pricing on different paint combinations and jobs. If you are interested, PM me and I'll send you the price. Thanks.

One thing we couldn't figure out was the wiring. We tried switching leads, but they still don't wig-wag. I'll have to look at some wiring diagrams and figure out how the relay works. Photo shoot will be in the not so distant future.

Looking great, Long!

As for the wig-wagging, I've never attempted a lead-switch, but just to cover the bases, did you turn your headlights on when testing for the wig-wag? Our headlights need to be on for that to happen.

Long-

I think Ramon of Niguel Motors can do it for you. I know he has the same sidemarkers as you.

If you do go there, let me know so we can meet up. I'd love to see the final product of your car.

Mike

Yes, the headlights were on. I'm sure Ramon can figure it out.

Definitely, I'll be in touch.

Looking good

Thanks eddie. i've heard that you are pretty picky, so coming from you that means a lot

Did a little photo shoot. Here is the best picture following the side marker change.
