Shop for a PPI on a 986 Boxster?

Hi guys -

Sorry for the non-NSX related post but I have a co-worker who is looking to purchase what looks to be a nice 1998 Porsche Boxster. The car only has 30K miles on the odo. and it looks to be in good shape. The only problem is that the car has had several owners and maintenance records are spotty. I'm strongly encouraging him to get a pre-purchase inspection prior to agreeing to purchase the car but I don't know jack about Porsche's and don't know where to send him.

I've posted similar messages in other boards but I'm hoping that some of you with Porsche's or P car knowledge might know a good dealership or independent shop that he should take the car to.

The car is in Escondido, CA and he lives/works in Irvine.

Any help would be appreciated.

And no... I can't convince him to step up for the extra $ to buy a nice NA1 NSX. He wants the P car and the price is right for him.

The best shop in SoCal for Porsches is right in Irvine, Vision Motorsports.

Suggest to your friend that he may want to spend a little more money and buy a newer one. The parts for the tops for the older models are no longer made so if he has any problems it will require him to convert to the new style ~$3k.
