I am converting back to stock and I have this Zanardi knob. Can someone tell me if this shift lever is the Type S edition and will it work with the stock shift knob?

Should work fine. The zanardi shift lever is the same physical height as the OEM shift stalk, just with more threads so you can screw a shift knob lower.

I just swapped over to the Zanardi shift stalk (which you appear to have) and still have my stock one in the box. Here is a photo of it.

Both stalks have the same thread pitch, so the original knob should thread on no problem. From memory (which could be wrong) the Zanardi top stalk length is a little shorter and the bottom pivot points are a little longer.

I want to do this mod too. I heard it make the shifting feels better with the zanardi stalk with zanardi knob. I don't know exactly why but i guess the Zanardi is heavier and sits higher?

Also, what is the short shift thingy that SOS sells, how does that affect the shifting?

The titanium Zanardi knob is heavier than the factory leather/plastic one, and the female threads go further up into it. If a Z-knob is threaded all the way on a Z-Stalk then installed knob height is a bit lower than OEM/OEM.

In addition to the longer threads, I *think* the Zanardi stalk has a extended bottom pivot point for the front/rear throw cable to attach to. The net effect seems to be that the sideways movement required is shorter by a bit due to the lower knob, and the front/back movement is reduced more due to both the knob and the different pivot point. I changed out the MTF and put moly lube in the cable jackets at the same time, and it made for a more S2000-ish feel.

YMMV
