shift knob

I have a 95 x and the shift knob doesn't want to come off, is there a special way to do it? thanks in advance

You just turn it. Counter clockwise if I recal correctly. The boot is connected to the bottom of the knob by a little metal ring which clips off. I can't remember the details, but no, there's really no trick.
