I just got this momo shift knob and it feels great, anyone have a suggestion on how I can modify the stock boot to match it? The ring at the top of the boot doesn't go well. Thanks.

One option is to remove the sleeve with the chrome trim ring from the top of the boot. Take the console trim out and, from the inside of the boot, place a ty-wrap around the top of the boot opening and tighten it around the shift lever below the MOMO shift knob.

Alt. 2 - get a genuine MOMO shift boot with integral upper trim ring which threads onto the shift knob threads (in place of the tapered trim piece which came with the knob). The boot must be trimmed and contact cemented to the console bezel. Looks fantastic.

Hey Demigod,

I have the same shifter that you have (Momo Superanatomico - Short) and I think that it is awesome.

Please post pics on how the trim ring issue works out for you as I am struggling with the same problem that you are.

Thanks,

I had the same problem with my Momo shifter.
My shifter has a ring at the bottom that unscrews, so I cut the ziptie that holds the plastic trim ring on the stock boot.
Then unsrewed the shifter ring and push the tip of the boot through the ring.
Then you can ziptie it or glue it to top of the shaft just below the shifter, and screw the trim ring back in place your done.

I would try this first if you dont like the way it looks, try the other method that fastcat99 pointed out.

Kewl blknsxnoc, and I did cut the ziptie on the ring and took it out..I haven't decided what to do yet but i just left the top of the boot folded in at the bottom of the knob and it looks fine. Thanks for all the help guys. ;)

I got the momo cobra shift knob and didn't like the chrome ring on the factor boot either. So I replaced the factor boot to the type R shift boot.
