That R&T title is very misleading not to mention most of the article. Saying "trademarked" (past tense) as if it's a done deal is so off ... they've only applied which is something people do everyday (the Ford Spokesperson used the correct terminology however).
Their application has to undergo a period where companies can object and Ford to actually be granted a TM registration number by USPTO is no where near to being done. The article even includes a link from TESS not realizing it's constantly updating throughout the day (hence their link's been dead within hours of publishing it).
Since Ford's applying for naming rights within the exact same G&S category as what Nissan does for a living ... once it's published for opposition which will be in about 6-12 months you can bet Nissan's lawyers will go after it like white on ricer.
