I've gone on record several times as saying that based on the pictures, the car is ugly.

Having now seen one in person (you local S. CA guys can see and sit in an arctic silver on black one at the P-car/Audi/Bentley dealership in Zooport Beach), I now retract that. The pictures simply don't do the car justice and it's seriously stunning in person.

I can't wait to drive on as it weighs slightly less than our NSX, has a bit more HP, a good amount more torque and it's a fresh design that's supposedly rock solid.

Beautiful car.

I agree it is a beautiful car, I would love to have one, but the price tag is a bit too much for a car like that. I would gladly take 06 Z06 at similar price, which would beat it in looks and any performance category.

I would concur on the Z06 part, but not on the part about the Cayman being beautiful.

I respect the hell out of the Chevy C6 (esp. the Z06 model) but in my mind you're talking about granny smith apples vs. macintosh apples. Both apples to be sure, but not really the same thing.

I like the Cayman S. To me, it is very similar to the NSX in both power and layout. It should handle just as well and it costs less and has more storage. Sounds good to me! Plus, a supercharger will make that thing smoke every 911 aside from a Gt2,3 or turbo.

I am waiting for the club sport version. Lighter and hopefully more powerful.

but a z06 - that is soo soo tempting.

Good for you Mike. I'm jealous.

The arctic silver on black (standard interior) that our local P-car dealer has in the showroom is absolutely stunning. It has the HID lamps and the 19" Carrera wheels (the new school ones) and not much more and it is just beautiful.

Do keep us in the loop with how you like the car once you take delivery.

I'm not sure if we in the the US will see that. I think it was this month's Excellence magazine alluded to the fact that a Cayman S on 19" wheels was actually faster around the 'Ring than a 997 Carrera. They mentioned that Porsche was going to be very leery about introducing a "cheaper" Cayman that upstages the Carrera while noting that the stellar chassis of the Cayman could clearly take a lot more power (even noting that 381 bhp X51 package 3.8L Carrera S motor that will be offered here in the States soon).

I hate the idea of getting back into having a car payment but this thing is tempting.

Im selling it 2 weeks after taking delivery; hoping it will "ring the bell" at the auction. Ill be one of the first to get one and im sure they will be selling for big $$$ over sticker like every other hot new sports car. Lucikly I wont be paying sticker

must be nice. good on you.

The Cayman sounds like it will have real potential. Some of the mags said the Cayman was purposely limited to under 300 hp so it won't compete with the 911s.

Which may indicate that the motor is over built and could handle more power. It has potential...

I used to own a S2000 and would probably consider a Cayman in 3 years.
