We've had cases of scammers pretending to be the seller and posting something long the lines of "Text xxx-xxxx to arrange details". It's especiallly tricky when the scammer creates a user profile with a similar usernames.
Eg. Someone posts "How about $400 shipped?" on a for-sale listing. The scammer posts "OK. Here's my phone # for e-transfer/PayPal F&F", but the scammer controls that phone. If the potential buyer then sends the cammer money, that money is gone. Some scammers have also taken control of dormant accounts and then sent bogus offers to folks who posted interest in items.
CHECK the usernames carefully before sending any PM's or especially any $!
Strongly advise against posting email information or contact numbers in this public forums - use the personal messaging features. If seller appears to post contact information, check carefully that it is the same user, and not an impersonator using a slight change to the username, like added punctuation.
And be sure not to send any money using services that can't be traced, like Western Union, Venmo, or PayPal Friends & Family.
