Gents...I am thinking about taking a drive that way. Where to stay that is on the beach w/ great parking? What to do? Where to eat....that is gooOooOd?

Thanks

For lodging, try Fess Parkers Double Tree Resort (FPDTR.com), or the Santa Barbara Inn. Both are located across from the beach. If you like fine dining, then you should try Citronelle, which is located on the 3rd floor of the Santa Barbara Inn. For less expensive dining, there are tons of restaurants on State street. Good luck!

Cal, if you want food with a view, you can try Moby Dick on the wharf. Not spectacular food though.

For hotels, this might be helpful.

BTW, I believe that this is the Double Tree Resort looking from the wharf in front of Moby Dick.

Fess Parker's is a larger hotel and is right along Cabrillo Blvd. which runs along the beach. Another place you might want to check out is the Harbor View Inn (also along the beach) which is close to the wharf and State Street. Yet another is the West Beach Inn.

Hey Calvin

My favorite restaurant in SB used to be Palace Cafe, now called the Palace Grill. Cajun food. Haven't been there is a while but if it's anything like before, it's worth a visit. Especially if you like cajun food!

After reading those reviews, I may have second thought on Fess Parker :) However, I booked a couple of night at Harbor View....with covered parking

Calvin, i live here in SB and own the Vespa deralership..give me a call and i'll get ya hooded up with lodging and point you at the BEST restraunts in town! plus then i'll get to see another NSX in town. there's only 2 or 3.....

Hey CDX_NSX, nice pic...I've always wanted to take a picture of my NSX there, but when I drove with a group to Santa Barbara, no one wanted to risk getting nails..

Thanks, akira. :) The wharf is actually pretty clean (other than sea gull deposits. :D) Construction work is virtually non-existant on the wharf so nails aren't a huge threat. :)

Thanks for all your suggestions everyone....looks like I may have dinner w/ our member here on Sunday. If you see me on the road, please say hi :D I will be in a red nsx w/ blue stripe in the middle with stickers alll over my rear hatch :D

Be ready for stares. :D The day I picked up my NSX, I drove down State Street, and there was nary head that didn't turn and a finger that didn't point. :D

Have fun, Calvin. I've been itching for a drive up to SB. If that itch gets the better of me, maybe we'll cross paths. ;)

hahahahah..................... I can picture you scratching and pacing back and forth now. I'll be at the harbor view....they told me that they have covered parking for my baby too:D

Hehe... I have your number. I'll call you if I make it into town. :D

Hey Calvin, We lived in Montecito for 15 years. There are some absolutely great places to go and stay. What type of food do you like? If you are interested in staying in a different part of town I would recommend the Montecito Inn on Coast Village Road. It is historical in that Fatty Arbuckle of the silent picture era was involved in the hotel. They have underground parking and valet if you wish. It is small enough to feel special and not too expensive. If money is no object than you want to stay at the Biltmore Hotel which is on the beach (5 star). You would then have access to the Coral Casino Club. Dinner is so open. If you want just great sea food then the Restaurant within the Montecito Inn is great (seperate business from the hotel). Next door is a high end Steak House call the Grill? About two blocks down Coast Village Road is an Italian Restaurant that is real funky, reasonably priced, lots of garlic. There are so many other Restaurants in the community from 5 Start French Restaurants to great Mexican Restaurants. Fess Parker's Hotel is very touristy in my mind as are a lot of the funky hotels in town. You might want to go to Summerland Beach Cafe for breakfast in Summerland (a mile south of Montecito). A lot of locals go there. There is also Molly's Restaurant on Coast Village Road (Ophra's new best friend). You have a lot of choices. If I can help let me know.

Manny

Thanks Dr.!!! I will keep these hotels in mind. However, I will try to visit everyone restaurant suggested. :D I love to eat..............................anything cooked!!!

Manny..alot has changed since you were here..theGrill,gone.Trattoria Mollie, still hangin' in there. the grill is now a super good steak house called Luckys..also there is a great Italian place called Tre Luna. and a superb Mex joint, Cava..all are owned by my customers.they're all excellent and on CVR. and i'm not propin' them cuz they bought scoots, they're just really good resturants!
