Hello Everyone,

On 14 March 2009, I purchased a 2002 NSX-T six (6) speed from the original owner. This car has 14,600 actual miles. Although I was aware of several "upgrades" performed by the original owner, I have decided to return these items to OEM specifications.
He replaced the OEM
1. Antenna - with an aftermarket rubber antenna

He replaced items 2. & 3. (see below) with the following items from
Science Of Speed:
ipp-791 NSX Short Shift Kit
ipp-343 extended thread gear shift stalk
ipp-273 NA2 NSX-R Mesh Shift Boot with Carbon Trim Panel

2. Black Leather Shift Grip - Aftermarket Knob
3. Black Leather Boot - Carbon Mesh Boot

I have ordered the following OEM items from NSX Prime members:
1. 2002 Antenna with Smartenna attached
2. 2002 Black Leather Shift Grip
3. 2002 Black Leather Boot
4. 2002 Trim Panel

I would be most appreciative if someone who is tech qualified to help me return my 2002 NSX-T to OEM specifications.

I would prefer a phone call rather than email, as I am "computer challenged." Many thanks for everything.

All the very best,
Howard

These items should be straight forward replacements, however, if you want a professional to install the items for you, you have a few options. I would probably not have the dealership install the parts, as most dealers don't see that many nsx's; instead, I would go to an nsx specialist.

I am familiar with most nsx specialist shops in Orange County, but am less familiar with those in San Diego County. If a drive is not out of the question, there is a shop which often installs the components you mention above, and does full nsx service; the name is Niguel Motors, and it's right off the I-5 freeway.

Here is their info:
Niguel Motors
27140-B Cabot Rd
Laguna Hills, CA 92653
Tel. (949) 348-2476

If you wish to try installing the parts yourself, the antenna should be straight forward, provided you take extra care when removing the old unit, and when tightening down the special nut on the replacement antenna to avoid damaging your paint. I believe the smartenna element must be spliced in to the cd changer wiring harness in the trunk, to allow it to lower the antenna when the cd changer is active. The wiring instructions are I believe printed onto the body of the smartenna module itself.

The shifter component installations will be slightly more involved; you do not need to replace the shift stalk, as the unit SOS sells is the Zanardi stalk, which differs only by the number of turns you *can* thread the shift knob down - you can still obtain the correct shifter position with it in place.

You will need to remove the arm rest, center dash vent, and center console in order to install the replacement shift boot and trim panel assembly; you must also remove these components if you wish to remove the (Dave's) short shift kit currently installed. There is a write up on the removal procedure for these trim panels on BrianK's website, here:
http://nsxe-repair.com/CCUremoval.html

Once the console is removed from the car, you will be able to observe the shifter stalk; the short shift kit is simply bolted on to the bottom of the shift stalk, and is installed inline with the shifter linkage. It can be easily removed once you detach the bolts holding the shifter cage to the car.

The shifter boot and trim plate assembly is installed onto the center console by phillips screws on the bottom; simply unscrew the nsx-r piece currently in place, and replace it with the leather boot and trim plate assembly you have purchased.

there is Jerry from Green Light motors.

Lots of the SD guys go to him and has a good reputation.

Im sure he is still in the business. maybe google or search forums and save yourself a trip up to LA.
