I'm surprised that they were in the vehicle without helmets, or any other apparent safety equipment save for the seat belts. I would think a minimum of a helmet would be required just to get on the track.

The Nordschleife is (outside the track events) officialy a public road (with entrance fee). Therefor you have virtualy the same rules during the tourist drives as on other german roads (including the theoretical 100km/h limit for "Landstrasse") and no special requirements for safety equipment. You find also big busses on the track with some dozens of passengers and you will never experience any radar trap. You may call it schizophrenic though... :wink:

BTW: The driver lady is called "Sabine Schmitz" (Alient, you may correct the thread title)

Actually a very nice lady. I asked her if she could drive us home to our bed&breakfast after a few beers since she has a "taxi service" :biggrin: but she did not have the keys to the M5 :biggrin:
