I have been told that the S2000's oil filter is the same size as the NSX's. Furthermore it may be of higher quality (it's made in Japan) and cost less.

What do the experts here think?

I've had both cars and if I recall correctly they are visually different. The S2000 filter is smaller. I may be mistaken though.

i have both cars, and the s2k filter is a lot smaller visually.

Once upon a time the nsx filter and the 2nd generation acura legend filter were the same. Then honda made the legend filter shorter. I know this would work on an nsx, but i would never do it.

I would think the NSX filter is the best filter for your car, period. I can't imagine how an oil filter for a four-cylinder (S2000 or not) could possibly be better than what Honda makes for their halo car. In fact, I have so much faith in the NSX filter that I buy it for my Legend. :p

The S2000 filter is much smaller and resembles the older 4 cylinder filters for the D and B series motors. OTOH, the NSX filter is much longer, so they are definitely not identical.

Addendum:

Older Honda filters were made by Fram/Filtech/Honeywell. The new S2K filters coming in are made in Japan by Toki Roki, just like our long neck NSX filters. So, stick with the long neck filters, you can't go wrong.

Price wise, I haven't seen much of a difference, local dealers want ~ $10 bux for the new S2K filter and the NSX filter.
