My friend wrote me and asked me about his. I didn't know the answer, so I thought I would write you all.

He lives in Toronto, Canada and just got a Mazdaspeed Protege. He is also leasing it.

"The dealership is offering to do rust proofing on the car before i pick it up. It is just over $600, but if/when i return the car i'd get half of it back.

I have a buddy who works at the dealership to give me this 'paint sheild' which protects the color of the car blah-blah-blah.

If i plan on keeping this car beyond the 4 years, is it worth getting decent rust proofing ? (warrenty is for 10yrs)"

Thanks all..

Is it for the under-carriage or for the Paint?

The undercarriage is normally done on SUV's,Trucks etc. They spray on the same material as the "spray on bed liners" which can add weight on the car.

If its the exterior (paint) its all baloney, just Zaino the car yourself.

JMHO:D

regards

Not worth it. It's just a way of increasing dealer profit. Modern cars have sufficient rustproofing when they leave the factory.

Or, if you REALLY want to take care of it, use Zymol! :p
