i constantly check autotrader.com, cars.com, and nsxprime (not many new listings.. at all...) everyday..

is there anywhere else i should be looking?

RAISE YOUR EXPECTED PURCHASE PRICE. MARKET VALUE.

If you have been looking for 6 months, your expectations (per model/price) are too high. With a national search, you should be able to find a nice NSX, of any year, in a month. TOPS. If it takes longer, you are bargain hunting.

I'm still waiting for that mint condition 91 with 30k miles for $22k, but I've been waiting for 5 years! What's wrong with you people!

It's a combination of the factors mentioned above. When there are only a handful of cars in a specific combination of color, year, mileage, etc, you may never find one for sale. And you rule any out if your desired purchase price is less than the market value.

Broaden your search to additional years and/or colors. And be prepared to spend more, especially if you are still restricting yourself to a small number of cars (and the lower the mileage and better the condition, the higher the price).

Agree, if someone is looking for a rare color, then, well...good luck. I have yet to see a monaco blue.

But, in general, I get tired of the posts saying "where are all the nice 91s? I'm ready to spend $28k and have been looking for months?" THE MARKET IS FIXATED ON THAT AS A GIVEN PRICEPOINT. Good luck selling a mint 91 for $32k, when everyone expects it for $28-30k. Even if the "everyone" in that scenario has all been searching for many months.

Liquidity is drying up because market participants have specific prices ingrained in their minds, and yet the number of "mint 91s" decreases every year. Same for every other price point/year. I could write a book on this.....

English please. What does this mean?

My guess is that you're trying to say he could get a newer model for $40K. Wrong.

My advice is to expand the search to any white 97-01 NSX. There is very little difference between 97 and 01. Not many white ones for sale and 40K seems low.

I agree! If that is the mindset for the price point for the '91's (mine with 28,000 miles), then I will never sell. $28K? No way! Heck, $32K. No way!

You are right, everyone wants the nice, no stories with all records '91 with 30k miles, for $28K, within 2 hours driving distance of their location. It just does not happen that way. Let them keep looking.

They will either figure it out, or never own an NSX. Sorry for them!

$40k for a '97 GPW NSX-T is going to be really hard to find. You really should change your criteria if you want to get an NSX any time soon.

You'll never find it. I just paid $48,000 for my 97' and I feel lucky to have found it. I actually had a man flag me down the other day and gave me a letter. In the letter he states that he drove by me a few days earlier and was looking for a white NSX. He was actually waiting for me to drive by again so he could give me this letter! I am pretty sure he wants to buy (that is an understatement). He might get lucky as my first son is due very soon and I may find the NSX very impractical and may be "convinced" by my wife to get a "family" car. We'll see - I am going to try to hold on to her!

These cars are getting very rare and bargains are a thing of the past!

The NSX is a very rare car... You may want to expand you search from 1997-1999 and bump up your price to $50k. Be willing to travel 2000 miles and have it shipped. And even then, it may take you a year to find the exact one you want.

Personally, I would be flexible on color, and worry more about condition.

About a month ago we got in a Grand Prix white 92' NSX at our dealership with only 9k miles. We ended up selling it for $37k. Had original window sticker, records, and all. You need to do a national search and be prepared to act fast. Do your homework. We find most of the NSX's we sell off of cars.com, autotrader.com and surprisingly here. We once got a red 92' from Mark Basch and another white 92' from a gentleman in San Fransisco. They were both listed here in the Market section.

My favorites calls on my 2001 which is still for sale is "I have $35K- cash....can I come get the car today?" So I don't know who these people are or from where they come, but they need to go back and stay. I suspect they are very young people who think $35K makes them rich or something. So anyway good luck finding a white NSX for the price you are targeting. It could take quite some time to find a white one.

It took me 3 months to find mine and it wasn't even for sale when I found it. I advertised myself on a dealer service that sends out to appropriate dealers the make/model/year/colour etc of the car you're looking for and dealers got back to me. My car was owned by a dealer principle and he said he'd sell it for the right price. I paid 5k more than I wanted to originally but jumped on it.

Be ready to move fast and pay asking when you find what you're looking for. Good luck!

I found mine on cars.com of all places. You just have to have patience, the right one will come along. I looked for a long time online in advance even before i was really ready to buy so I knew what to expect and what to look for. Once I found mine though, I knew it was "the one" and I got a great deal on it and I didn't make any comprimises, I got it exactly how I wanted it. Of course it was 2000 miles away, but that didn't bother me a bit.

LOL!! Although it is a different car, I had an Evolution VIII when they first came out. I mean, I was #2 on the waiting list. Luckily I paid $700 under sticker for the car (not over sticker like everyone else was paying), but after a little over 2 months I put it up for sale. I drove it all over the country in that 2 months, so with 18,526 miles on the odometer I listed it for around $26,000 or best offer. Again, keep in mind that the sticker was over $32,000, AND people were still on waiting lists paying $40,000 and above for these cars around the country. Well, I had idiots calling me saying, 'Your car has high mileage...I will give you $18,000 cash right now for it,' and they must have though by emphasizing the word cash that I would thank my lucky stars, forget that I would be losing $14,000 and sell them the car. I finally told one guy, 'Look...I bet you would give me $18,000. Hell...if you find some for $18,000 sitting around, CALL ME, and I will buy every single one of them,' and that was it.

It seems even more dumb that someone would do that with an NSX. Unless you get someone who is desperate to sell for some reason, most NSX owners know the value of their car and are not going to be struck dumb just because you say the word cash on your lowball offer.

I think thats just people making a living reselling cars.
You figure he would only have to make 3 deals like that(buying a car for 20-30k under value and reselling ) to get a nice $90,000 income.

sorry for the confusion, im not looking for a 97 specifically, im looking for a 97+ in white..

but the problem is not the price for me..

although i think 40k is VERY fair for a 97 with about 50k miles.. (both edmunds and kbb price out a PERFECT/EXCELLENT condition 97 for about 37k-39k and thats DEALER RETAIL)..

the argument is that the nsx is rare and exotic, but that doesnt change the fact that its still a USED VEHICLE no matter how well maintain'd it is--it still must depreciate even though it will fall to a certain point and flatten out.. (totally understandable, its not a ford escort!)

the fact is, the seats have been sat in, the motor has been run, and the exterior will suffer from rock chips, and the whole car will go through WEAR AND TEAR and eventually misc. parts will need to be REPLACED. nothing last forever.. (size smaller on purpose because this is my own opinion and i believe this is what the car is worth and what i can afford to pay - i have nothing against anyone else WILLING or able to AFFORD to pay more for one)

now back to the problem-- the problem is that i cant find anything i like within a reasonable proximity (high as new york, low as north carolina, as far west as ohio - im from dc).. alot of the cars im finding are either cali cars or FL cars.. now this is FAR which means that if i was even interested, it would cost me an arm and a leg just to go LOOOK at the car..

im not finding a good amount of listings and i dont want to leave any rock un-turned, thats why im here asking you guys where else i need to look so one doesnt go on the market without me knowing!

anyways, dont take this post the wrong way--we're all here because of a common interest and i just wanna hear what other nsx owners feel..

40K IS NOT very fair. It is for a '95 or '96, but not a '97. What these cars are worth is exactly what buyers are willing to pay, and what nice '97s are selling for is more than $40K. Like it or not, that is reality and not KBB or Edmunds.

Let us know how your search goes. I've got a feeling that we won't be hearing from you for a long time, unless you're prepared to modify what you're willing to pay. If you do find a '97 for $40K, it will either have some issues or you'll have gotten an extraordinary deal.

40K?
You are dreaming.

I waited over 10 years to afford my NSX. Don't give up.

The only thing I can tell you is that if you are only willing to pay up to $40k for one of the FEW white 97+ NSXs, you will will be looking for a LONG time. The reason I say this is because I will outbid you for any white/black manual, and I am sure I am not the only one.
