Rubber trunk stoppers - updated, with photos!

This DIY is in the wiki, and was mentioned in the NSX secrets thread. However, there are no photos. Also, the NSXCA link is defunct, as is the web host provider that I used in my prior thread. So I thought I'd make a new post with photos as I just did this on my 93 NSX. Hope this helps someone else.

1. Rubber trunk stopper is present on the driver side.

2. However it's missing on the passenger side!

3. Let's have a look in here.

4. There it is!

5. I fished it out using a long screwdriver.

6. Using a little bit of super glue, I'm going to secure it back in place.

7. Done!

Mine were missing. Didn't even know they were gone. The left one was in the hole, the right one is MIA.

If its wedged in that hole like mine was just push it through the hole and you can catch it on the other side in the engine bay.

you can also source them from a sedan legend front hood.

or added protection put a small square piece of tape on the paint where the latch hits

or get a rubber hose/vacum cut a small chunk and slip it on

Thanks! I've been driving 4 years without these rubber stoppers. The trunk never seemed to be aligned properly. I found them in the crevasse covered in dirt. Put them back on and trunk is aligned now!!

I had a page about this posted on the NSXCA Northwest site that I maintained years ago and no longer up. This is the only place the rubber stopper will work its way to once it slips off the holder. I did see that Honda did account for this issue as the holder got pins that stuck out on the edges meaning that you had to pull and stretch the rubber stopper around the pin to remove it. I don't know from what year this change was done but it could have been from the 1997 model year. You can clearly see the protruding pins and how they prevent the rubber stopper from sliding off.
