Roughly how much to do a 02 conversion?

It adds generous resale value? What would you say that would be? I can not imagine it offering more than 2 or 3K to the value at resale (and even then only for someone who does not dislike a car that has been altered), which makes it a pretty bad investment to me. Maybe I am mistaken?

And maybe you're not. I doubt that it would add more than a grand or so to the value of the car.

From an insurance perspective, look to recoup 20% at most up to roughly $5000 (if you have enough additional equipment coverage).

If someone did $15K in mods (parts prices, not labor), and then you deduct the value of the original parts, you might walk away with an extra $1 to $2K like you speculated.

You would also need to supply documentation for the parts.

From a resale perspective, it really depends upon the buyer. I've seen some people get lucky, and get more than they should have, and others that needed to turn the car quick, and lose out big time.

Doing the 02+ conversion is like installing some esoteric, one-of-a-kind Italian marble and importing it brick-by-brick to your home. This brick cost 10x more than a similar, more common brick and only you and your marble buddies really appreciate it's value. You might find a buyer for your home that knows what it is you've got, but you probably won't.

Moral: The 02+ conversion, as do 90% of all mods, appeals to only a limited number of car enthusiasts who would be looking for such a thing. They are extrinsic in value.

The average Joe NSX buyer could care less and they probably don't understand the nature of the upgrade--only that it's a 91 with a new bumper and lights.

You could get most if not all of your $$ back but that buyer and you will probably never meet.

Expect it to add a few thousand, if even that, in the real world. You'll lose 80%.

I'm trying to package an alternative. The lights are $1600.00, front bumper (our style) $800, hood $650, brackets and misc gaskets $300. $3350 total. This is just an estimated price for now. We will be starting on the 2002 products next week.

id probably be in:wink:

Decisions based on price usually end up costing you more. Dont think you will spend less than $8000.00 to do a conversion , most that come out with "kits" seem to leave out the "Misc Items" which add up. Paint, brackets, harnesses etc etc.
