Jenson Button believes the appointment of Ross Brawn as Honda's new team principal is exactly "what the team needs."

Last weekend Button voiced his concerns about the direction of Honda, and suggested he could leave unless the situation improved.

Within 24 hours, the improvement arrived with Brawn taking charge of a team that endured a disastrous 2007 Formula One season.

After a year-long sabbatical away from the sport, Brawn could be the answer to Button's prayers, and all within Honda.

Brawn is regarded as a technical genius after he masterminded the revival of Ferrari, who won six consecutive constructors' titles from 1999 to 2004.

With Michael Schumacher at the wheel, the German also won five successive drivers' crowns to take his total to seven and become the most successful racer in F1 history.

If Brawn can turn Honda around as he did Ferrari, then Button may finally have the chance he craves of a shot at the world title.

"I am very happy, and I think this is what the team needs. The guy has so much experience in F1," said Button.

"One man does not turn around the whole team, but his input, his guidance and direction are going to make a big difference.

"He has done it all before, and I am really looking forward to working with him."

Button has yet to meet Brawn since he joined Honda on Monday, but added: "I have spoken to the guy.

"I cannot wait to meet with him and we run through a few things.

"Ross coming to us is amazing, but we also have a lot of other people coming to the team.

"I expect them to do a great job, and Ross adds to that."

Re: mine's bigger than your's...

You can take "credit" for breaking the story. It's really not that big of a deal.

Of course not, it is some thing that probably deserve it's own title instead of being part of the "silly season."

It would be cool too see: "PonyBoy is the next Renault F1 #1 driver for 2008, after they were fined $100 million for having McLaren's design work on four floppy discs; they can no longer afford to keep the current top F1 drivers."
