so the best audio guy i could find in kansas city is telling me that rockford fosgates are the thing to do in my nsx.

any advice??? im sceptical. he claims he did this to another nsx in kc....

I've had RF in my RX-7 and they sounded awesome. However, they were the power series line(the best they made) and are not made anymore. I used it to compete in IASCA so I know what their best sounds like. The new stuff from RF is pretty good, just not as good as old stuff IMO.

Would I put RF components in my NSX? NO

Veleno, they still make the power series. The power hx2 series. The 10",12", and 15" are all 1000watts rms and 2k peak. One 12" or 2 10"s would sound awesome in an nsx. If you have or get aftermarket seats that can be moved up some you would have a little more room to work with, they make pretty good components too. Also mount your amps in the rear compartment, great for shows! Id check out audiobahn, there great also mmats juggernaut series, you might be able to get a 10" in there. Fosgate is good, and many times is called the best for the money but they arent the best. They just broke a record with 175.2 but that took 12 woofers and alot of power from 48 amps. MMATS only had 8 woofers and 16 amps and got 174.7. I think thats much better performance. If they put another amp on each sub or added more subs, tuned the box,etc... they could beat fosgate easily. JL is the best for the money to me. For the nsx id get the best period and Id get it for sq not spl, there is a big sound difference. If you want some loud music to sound good dont get some measily aftermarket piece of crap sub to put in the floor or behind your seats, get something good. Show pics too.

I will probably get MB Qaurtz when I do my NSX. The MB Qaurtz to me are bright sounding. Since they are on the floor and I don't plan on adding additional tweeters I am hoping this works out for the best. For RF IMO I only care for there amps. The only amps of theres that I like are the top of the line ones. I don't think you could go wrong with RF though. Unless you buy there bottom of the line stuff. This stuff really sucks!!

The Power Series RF makes right now are somewhat different than the earlier models. IMO RF has become more commercialized, I mean you can pick up a Crutchfield catalog and order a set. Unlike before when you had to go to an authorized dealer or shop that carried them. Don't get me wrong, I still think they're pretty good, I just don't think I'll put them in my NSX.

As far as the amps, again I'd go with the old school amps.

Like mentioned above, I too would build a system for SQ rather than SPL(I took 1st place for SQ in the 301-600 watt class). My rx7 was built for SQ but could hit really hard if/when I turned it up.

I would suggest listening to a lot of different brands of speakers, and which ever sounds the best to you, get it. My ear is different from yours, so we will have different opinions on what a speaker sounds like. Sometimes the most expensive isn't always the "best" choice. Go with what you like.

Keep us informed of what you decide, and how you like it. Good Luck

I have MB Quarta 8" Components in my doors, I first had the tweeters down behind the grills and they were fine if I had no passenger, but with a rider the highs were gone, I then moved them up and recessed them in the door panels. They are perfect there.

Good luck, I dont think you can go wrong with the Quarts but they are more expensive than most others.
