On July 8th I will be co-driving in a BMWCCA Race at Road Atlanta where the car owner is raising money to help cure diabetes and I am proud to help him. We hope this will not only help raise money, but also awareness in the fight to cure diabetes. The car owner’s 4-year-old daughter Katie was diagnosed with this terrible disease in December 2002. Her health is regulated now, but it's a daily struggle. We need to find a cure now to help Katie and millions of children just like her all over the world.
For those of you not familiar with diabetes, it is a disease that shuts down the natural pancreas-driven production of insulin, a hormone necessary to turn sugars into energy. It is not caused by obesity or by eating excess sugar. In fact, the causes are not entirely known. Insulin injections provide life support for a diabetic, but they do not prevent the insidious complications from diabetes such as kidney disease, heart failure, blindness and amputation. For this reason, we are RACING for a cure.
Having been an NSX owner and club contributor since 1998, I couldn’t think of a better group to ask for help. Any monetary support you provide will be tax deductible and 100% will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). JDRF has contributed more money to diabetes research than any other non-governmental agency in the world, almost 1 Billion Dollars since 1970!
Please make donations out to JDRF and send them to Bob Butler, PO BOX 305, Tullahoma, TN, 37388.
Thanks,
Bob
