That *might* be true. However, 1/3 of the oil is processed in plants owned by Exxon, shelll, etc in S.E. Texas. IOW, Gas supply is going to be bad for next 2-3 weeks even if the infrastructure isn't damaged. So, GO FILL UP.

I think we are going to have fuel after 40 years...hey, think about it...someone invented synthetic oil...all we need now is synthetic gas.

Already lines again here locally with a few stations out of fuel from the panic. Also the station nearest my store was $2.59 this morning and was $2.74 on the way home today.

This whole thing is stupid.

Oil companies are making record profits right now and all they need is another storm to gouge us some more. Fantastic.

It's not even so much that I mind paying the extra $$, it just annoys me that someone is getting really rich off of this.

not losin' sleep over this...

Yes, the Germans during the final days of WWII manufactured synthetic fuel/"gas" (petrol) & other non fossil-fuel based oils, lubricants, and chemicals for their aircraft, tanks, and other mechanized forces. However, it was out of sheer necessity and the cost of making such was just about incomprehensible.

Gas (Reg. 87oct) was $2.50 two days ago, $2.59 today in some places & $2.69 in others. Regular unleaded was sold-out at most places, and a few gas stations were sold-out entirely. I was running on fumes, and heavy-traffic everywhere due to influx of Gulf-coast residents made me nearly reach for the siphon tube...
