I noticed this today when I was putting some Zymol on.

How can I get this fixed?

heh.. I JUST had that SAME EXACT tear fixed yesterday.

Call an upholstery place... since it's so close to the seam they can do a REALLY good job of fixing it up.

First they take the seat out..
Then they split it up into the three seperate pieces..

Lastly then take the whole bolster leather out and re-stitch it.

The guy charged me 95 bux... Which I didn't think was bad at all considering that tear annoyed the living heck outta me..

Oh yeah.. there are some upholstery places that do come to you... that's what I did.. made me feel a lil safer..

Considering the age and wear of the leather of the driver's seat as compared to the passenger's seat, which generally speaking is relatively unused and in like-new condition, you should consider having them re-dye the seat when the bolster panel is replaced. Take a good look at the seat and make sure that there are no other areas of heavy wear. If there are, now is the time to replace them as well since the seat will be out and at the upholstery shop. Make sure and check around for references regarding the cost and reputation of the shop. Hope this helps.

I was curious if anyone tried those leather repair kits they sell at Kragen....or even the "As Seen on TV" leather repair kits out there.

That's a good one! You had me going there for a minute. LOL.
You're kidding..... right?

Net Viper, I also had a rip in the bolster and some wear rash on the vinyl after 12 years of the car being on the road. The upholstery shop replaced a piece of the vinyl, sewed the rip together and dyed both seats back to black. The seats look as close to brand new as you can get in a '91 car. Cost was about $200 - $230 USD. Money well spent in my opinion.

I would stop by your dealership and see if they have someone who specializes in Leather repair. In MD, there is a person that stops by every Tues and Thurs that only does leather repair.

I caught him during lunch and asked if he could fix a leather tear in my RL steering wheel. There was also a tiny tiny nick on my steering wheel in the center from a club.

(The tear was from another dealership in MD. By the time I saw it, about 20 minutes into my drive home, it was too late. Plus I couldn't prove Tischer Acura did this to my car, but there was no tear before I took it there.) Will NEVER! take it there again!

Anyways, Rosenthal Acura has a repair person (not affiliated with the dealership). He charged me $75 (2 tears) and it came back great 30 minutes later. I couldn't tell where the tear use to be even when I stared at it closely.
