Hey Coz, have look up the FAQ? I found them to be very helpful and will answer almost any questions regarding the NSX. I know it's easier to ask. But u will never get an answer as comprehensive as the FAQ. To make it easier, u can look up the table of content at www.nsxprime.com/toc.htm

I have the Shorties and the 4.23 R&P and it has completely transformed the car off the line and out of the corners. I won't go on about all the great benefits, but consider this: The 1-2 upshift in the stock 5 speed drops the engine down to about 4400 RPM from redline. With the short gears and R&P it now shifts into 2nd at about 6000 RPM. The difference in rwhp (with the usual engine mods) is around 65 rwhp. That sound good to you?
Andrie is right, for real numbers read the FAQ.

Thanks Guys. Appreicate the insight and the link.

I see. The Jap gears help from 0 to 100 and then actually cause the car to get slower. Whereas the stock gears are slower to 100 and faster than the jap gears after.
Kind of a trade off.

that's what gears is all about. trade-offs. Why do you think race cars use different gears for different tracks? And why do you think the US M3 with only 240hp is just as fast as the Euro M3 with 320hp? It's all about the gearing. If you want to improve the 0-100mph time in the NSX, then short gears are good. On the other hand, if you want to keep the highway acceleration, keep the stock gearing

Who ever is the owner of this site has done a great job. This site alone, and the memebers makes it worth buying an NSX. All the answers are here.
Thanks Guys.

You hit the nail on the head. Gearing is always a trade-off. You need to look at the kind of driving you do and decide where you want the most punch!

I figure having the punch from 0 to 100 is where I would want it most for street driving. I don't plan on racing the car I get, so over 100 are not going to come that often. Specially considering the trade off when it comes to getting tickets and cost of insurance increases. :-))

Thanks Admin.... Great site !
