can anyone compare the ride comfort level between a stock setup and bilstein shock, H&R springs and dali sway bars setup?

is this just to lower the car or does the ride become more harsh?

thx

Stock vs. Bilstein ride comfort

The shocks are what make the noticeable difference in ride comfort. Springs and sway bars don't. I went with Bilstein's, stock springs and Dali street bars. My wife, who would notice, care and comment about ride comfort, thinks they are just like stock; no detectable difference in her finely tuned butt. But they are still an improvement in handling on the track over stock. So, overall, they are a very good "mostly street- sometime track" setup with virtually no compromise in ride comfort.

Bilstein ride

I just had Mark Basch put on the Bilstein shocks on my car. They are very smooth on rough patches and do tighten up when you get into the curves. I've been very happy with the Bilsteins and stock springs.

I replaced my stock shocks with Bilsteins and I agree. The Bilsteins are a great compromise, with comfortable ride quality on the street, and terrific handling when you're driving on the track. In that respect, in fact, they are very similar to the stock shocks, which (when new) also offer an outstanding combination of ride quality on the street and terrific handling on the track.

I am using stock springs and sway bars and cannot comment on that aspect of the original question.

am i wrong in assuming that when u go to a shorter spring u get less wheel travel, hence harder of the bumps??? or do the bilsteins compensate for that.

thx

Your answer is in the FAQ referenced in the thread "Eibach vs. stock" on the "Do it Yourself" forum. Lots of good stuff in there.
