So I brought my car in to Ken at Import Performance Center:
905-791-2277
Dixie & 407
22 Strathern Ave, unit 8A
Brampton

Ken made an appointment for me 10 days in advance (He's busy and scheduled, I like schedules, I can tolerate waiting if I get good service)

I showed up a little late (OK, 25 mins late) and was chastised, but rightly so, (I'll never do THAT again) and he juggled a little and fitted me in although he had moved someone up into my spot.

The work began (Installing Daytime Running Lights) with a discussion and experimentation to determine what would be best. Followed by discussion on how and where to hide the wiring nicely.

I REALLY enjoyed being able to talk, look, touch and opine about what was going to be done with MY baby - I hate the $75/hr or $150/hr if you watch attitude, I want to see, ask and discuss - I got it!

We had a problem with the install (noticed after I paid and was ready to go), the relay was bad and locking on.

This issue was the best measure of Ken - he was embarased, diagnosed and fixed it quick and stopped his new work to do this.

At the end of everything he kept to his quoted price even though I suggested (more than once) that he charge me for being late as well as some of the extra time it took him to figure out how to do an exceptional job on wiring the relay.

Overall, although Ken is out of my way and my car has factory warranty on it, Ken's my man! Any mod, any project, I'm bringing my car to him. Its rare you find a guy who will take the time to do it right, even at his own expense - Ken's the man!

PS - anyone coming on Monday can see my sexy new Yellow and Black relay under my Yellow and black bonnet.

Great writeup. Ken is awesome. He's busy as hell, and hard to get ahold of, but once your car is there, you know the job is going to be done right. I also enjoy the fact that you can get right in there and understand what's being done to your car rather than waiting in a lounge somewhere not knowing if the tech is out picking up chicks with your car.

I had this recurring problem with one of my foglights where the bulb kept going out every few months. Anyways, while the car was on the lift I asked him about it... and he just stuck his hand in the back, pulled out the bulb, walked over to a neighbouring store to get a replacement and put it in -- all for free. Didn't even charge me for the bulb. The same job at the dealership was $25 or somesuch. I really feel like I get good value for the money with Ken -- he's not out to rip you off.

He may be out of the way for many of us, but this ain't your mama's camry we're talking about here :D
