Reverse lights intermittently working

My reverse lights are sometimes not working. I've determined it's the plug/wiring that goes into the SWITCH ASSY., BACK LIGHT. It's not the back light switch that is connected to the tranny, but the other plug that this one goes into. It looks like this plug goes down into other wiring that branches off. I've looked everywhere on the OEM parts site but can't find this other plug. Any help? Thanks.

According to the wiring diagram one plug goes to the manual transmission back up light switch and the other plug is for an automatic transmission and goes to the shift position console switch.
It might be that the master wiring loom is made for both transmission options.
If you have a manual, I'd guess the other plug is connected to nothing.
Both circuits connect to the dash fuse box, then to the ignition switch, then battery.

If you've confirmed the transmission switch is good then perhaps the ignition switch is getting worn?

The reverse switch and the neutral switch are both brand new. If I "jiggle" the side of the plug that runs into the wiring harness (not the reverse switch that connects to the tranny) then the reverse lights go on and off, which tells me it's in that plug. This is the part I'm looking for. Option 2 would be to eliminate the plug and just hard wire them together??

I understand now.
You've got a bad plug or loose wire in the plug.
You could hard wire the lights or a suggestion might be to go to an auto parts store and buy a generic connector and replace the oem one.
