I have replaced every hose but the small straight hose that leads from the oil cooler. The one that is a U took some time but this last one I honestly have no clue how to get to it. I have some 12" needle nose pliers but that didn't even seem to cut it.

This job would be hillaciously easy if I were to removed the axle but something tells me that someone may know of a more 'nifty' way to get it out...

thanks in advance for anyone who may know the key to getting to this last hose.

cheers,
x

The easiest way is by removing the oil cooler pedestal, which is held on by 3 bolts that are easy to reach with the right rear tire removed. When doing that you'll need to replace the figure 8 gasket ( P/N 91318-PY3-000, $7.15 last year) on the oil cooler.

You do not need to remove the axle. But removing the pedestal as recommeded above, AND removing the heat shield from the CV mount will make the job doable:). This hose will test your patience;).

I must readily agree.... i haven't had a chance to crack on it since i last posted (gf car problems.. go figure) however i must admit.. my fingers are quite fatigued..

I'll let ya know how it goes after i finish..

thx a bunch!

I did this job last winter and followed Larry's advice to remove the heat shield. W/o doing that, I don't think I could have gotten at the clamp. I also bought some very long-nosed pilers with angled tips for this job.

done.... thanks a bunch guys.... all done!!! woot... now i just have to wait for my new radiator to come in
