Replacement Inside Trunk light

My dealer says he no longer can get the replacement light unit that fits the inside side of the trunk of my '94. Is it not compatible with some other Acura/Honda? He says he's unable to determine that. Thanks!

Do you need to replace the entire unit, or just the bulb? The bulb (part number 34295-SA5-003) is used in a variety of Honda/Acura models and should be available at any dealer. The light assembly (34256-SD4-003ZM) is indeed specific to the NSX and not shared with any other Honda/Acura vehicle. You might be able to find one from one of the folks who does a lot of body and repair work on NSX's. That same part was used on all NSXs, all years.

You are correct. I think the doors use the same lens, but the foot well lens appears to be diffrerent.

No, it isn't. The part numbers on the '96 are the same as those shown above. Granted, sometimes one part number can fit in a place where a different part number is specified. But they do have different part numbers.

It's also worth mentioning, if you only need to replace the lens and not the entire assembly, it's possible that the lens is available even if the assembly isn't.

well its funny that they are different part numbers but will fit. like the 1993 accord fits, the 1991-1995 legend fits,

example.

the nsx trunk light complete unit is the complete unit on the doors of an 1993 accord.
the nsx doors lights are the same as the trunk light on an integra,
etc. etc.
dome light on coupe NSx is the same as the dome light on a 1997 RL
blah blah you get teh picture

the coolest one I have found is the dome light on a 1993 Vigor has tweeters build in and fit exaclty to the dome light of an NSX and they come in the same color grey or tan

Sometimes they have the same part numbers, too. This is common with parts like light bulbs, wiper blade inserts, etc.

When the part numbers are different, sometimes they fit anyway, as already noted. Sometimes they have different part numbers because they have different colors, as you can see above with the driver's foot well assemblies. When that's all that's different, they usually only change the two letters added to the end of the part number, and the rest stays the same. You'll probably start to see more and more examples of this affecting availability of interior parts, where you'll be able to get such-and-such part for a black interior, but not for a red or blue or ivory interior. (Sun visors, anyone? :wink: ) Sometimes parts are different in dimensions or shape but they work anyway, as we've seen with the substitution of the new part number for the NSX oil filter.

When all else fails, if the part is inexpensive, you can order a different part and try it out. If it doesn't fit, you're only out a few bucks.
