Removing E-Brake button

Just got a E-brake button to replace my OEM. Does anyone know how to remove this part. Do I need to remove the entire E-brake assembly? I'm sure it's super simple. I didn't feel like looking it up.

I just did this and SOS recommended using a plier and rubber band to unscrew the button. I just used a plier since I was throwing out the oem button anyway. Use the rubber band when you tighten the new button at the end. DO NOT remove the entire e brake assembly.

Yeah as above, I removed my old brake button with a set of pliers, but when installing the new button, I put a bit of grease on the male threads first then after a recommendation from a UK member "NSX 2000", I purchased a "BABY BOA" strap wrench so not as to scratch the button.

Great tips, thanks. I'll give it a try using my old Kirby Vac. Belt.

Do not use a shop towel to cover the button when tightening with the pliers. You'll only indent and scratch the button. Eventually the chrome finish will peel off.

Yeah the button is a crew on/off item but it is on extremley tight and being that its a smooth suface is difficult to get off/on by hand.

As mentioned if your replacing the button then best to use just a pair of pliers but when installing you will need something like the strap wrench I mentioned as this will give a good grip on the new button but also wont damage it.

On another note if your buying the button from Honda/Acura, I noticed there was 2 types! A chrome one and a black one. I opted for the black button.
