First I would like to thank everybody at the forum for their endless knowledge and help. Everybody here at the forum has really helped me with all of my probelms.

Second, I am planning on purchasing a remote start and alarm combo. My main concerns are the remote starter, a highly sensistive alarm (NSX is my daily driver), and a 2-way paging system. A store in the Philadelphia area called Soundwaves qouted me at $1100 for that system and the install. That sounded a little high to me. If anybody could get back to me on a good install place and some feedback on a few alarm systems, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time

I just had the Viper (I think 790 model) installed. It ran $700.00 for everything, including the optional window roll-up, remote trunk release, and two stage interior/exterior motion sensor ( a must for the targa). They also had to make a custom "In-gear" lock-out mechanism. It was so you could use it with a stick shift, i.e. if it's in gear, it wont start. I'm very pleased with the setup. Kind of cool starting the car from over 400 feet away, and having the paging system up to 1000 feet. Look around, I think you will be able to find a better deal.

Good luck.

You should check out the Compustar 2way pager alarm... It has all you need...

Yes, 1100 seems VERY expensive.

In Canada, I had the alarm installed on my 1998 prelude for 625 CAD(around 400USD), and the installer quoted me the same price for the NSX. Plus on the NSX I will get the option to pop the trunk by remote :D

I only buy/install/do things with people/shops that I am familiar with. Why? A lot of shops don't have prices on their items... So they can charge you anything they want.

REAL world example. I brought a Varad LED bulb for 7 bucks, and when my friend saw it, he wanted one for his S2000, so he goes in the shop and asks for one, and he got charged $20!!!

I hate these shops where they charge you based on the car u drive, etc...

WOW 1100 on a new alarm setup....Thats crazy! It better have like a 24hr accessline and cameras installed too!

If you pay 1100, that is waaaay too much.

They tend to look at your car and quote you... Go around to another shop...or better yet look for your desire alarm system and look for a reliable installer. Any DEI or alpine alarm system decent enough, just look for the options you want, remote start, proximity sensors, pager... etc... the setup wouldn't cost you no more than $500 for a pretty nice one
