Reliable and Trustworthy Mechanic

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a NSX mechanic that will work with me to make sure I am getting the most out of any mods or regular maintenance. He or she will explain the work from start to finish. Does anyone know of such a mechanic in the Everett / Seattle area?

Charles Hart - Acura of Lynnwood. I am so impressed that I actually driver my NSX over from Spokane, leave it & fly home & then back to pick up. He has also offered a loaner vehicle should I decide to stay in town (to shop, eat, get rained on, whatever...)

I was impressed. I cannot speak to the other mechanics recommended on here, but I personally was happy with his services.

my vote goes to both Charles @ Acura lynnwood and John @ Zahntech; but seems like you are not just looking for recommendation and you have some personal requirement. Depends on where you live, one location could be more convienient than the other. Charles does not do work himself, but let me tell you, he's great, he will hook you up in pretty much anything you want to get done with your car.

I met John before Charles joining the nsxprime :wink: and even before he opens up Zahntech. He's a great guy as well.


My suggestion is please pick up the phone or even pay a visit to both of them and go with your gut feelings. I know from experiences, you couldn't go wrong with either of them.

One other thing to keep in mind of regular shop vs dealership. If the dealership blows your enging in a timing belt, or something lame/unfortunate like not torquing the transmission pan to spec ending up leaking, better chance that they have the funds and insurance to address it . A regular shop likely doesn't have the funds, may or may not have the insurance and it will generally be harder imo..

Well, at least that's the experience I had with dealership vs regular shop I didn't blow my engine..but my transmission seal on one of my other vehicles started leaking immediately after a service. Only remedy was to redo the transmission job, which for this vehicle was $80 / quart and cost me about $500.00. It wasn't worth suing and I would likely have lost taking the shop to court, as there is no way to prove to the court that it was error on the shop's fault.
