I have a 1991 and my motor is Black, Im replacing the motor my replacement is red. What year is that out of?? is the motor more HP??

Does the replacment motor have a serial number on it? That prove a tad useful in identifying it. :)

I havent had a chance to even see the motor I have somone putting it in for me. But I know it is red. would it say 3.2 on the motor anywhere? when I get te vin where would I look it up to see what year it is?

Just look at the engine code. It's either C32B (3.2L from 1997+ with 6-speeds) or C30A (3.0L from all others, including all autos). I believe this is stamped near where the transmission mounts.

If you have a 1991 C30 then you'll be replacing a lot more than the engine if you're putting in a C32 block.

Clutch, tranny, ecu, etc. The C32 isn't plug and play.

If you or your mechanic haven't planned on any of these expenditures either the new motor is a C30 w/ custom powder-coated covers or you are in for a real surprise when you go to hook up the tranny.

Just look for the engine VIN and pray it says NA1.
